We noticed the rudder was loose on this shaft during a routine haulout, and found it to have lots of crevice corrosion. We had a new shaft made, repaired the taper, and replaced the bushings to make it good as new.

From masthead instruments to keel trunks, we have removed, repaired, or replaced just about every part of all kinds of boats. We’ve also worked closely with insurance companies and surveyors in the repair of grounding damage to keels, props, transmissions and more.

We have built new or repaired old rudders, replaced windows, replaced couplings, shafts, and cutless bearings, often as a result of discovering a problem before it got more severe. In addition, we’re more than happy to coordinate and supervise engine service or repair. In all of our repair work we make accurate estimates of both time and cost and have a history of sticking to both.

The keel of this Grand Banks was badly delaminated from a grounding and some old repairs. We ended up re-building about a 5-foot section after removing all the damaged laminate.

While there are lots of predictable kinds of boat failures, sometimes it can be very difficult to know what the extent of a repair will be. We pride ourselves on keeping owners and others up to date with the details of a job as they emerge and do our best to clearly inform the decision-making process.
